The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) launches its GenNext ‘Smart Basics’ Hotel - ‘GINGER’ at Fatehgunj Camp Road, Vadodara City, marking the presence of the fast-expanding chain in the state of Gujarat.

The 95-room hotel in Vadodara is the 11th hotel that Ginger has added to its growing chain across the country, which includes hotels in Bangalore, Pune, Haridwar, Bhubaneswar, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Durgapur, Nasik, Agartala and Puducherry.

NEWS| FnB| Bistro plans 10 new TGIF outlets

Bistro Hospitality will inject nearly Rs 30 crore in its specialty restaurant chain TGI Friday's to set up 10 new outlets by March 2009, in line with its plans to become a Rs 100-crore company by 2010.

The company is a master franchisee of US-based Carlson Restaurants Worldwide's (CRW) specialty restaurant format TGIF in India and adjoining areas. It presently operates seven TGIF outlets across major metropolitan cities of the country.

The company is wholly owned by the publicly listed Great Eagle Holdings Limited, which was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1972. Currently, it has a capitalisation of US$ 2.1 billion. LHI’s strategic move to enter India is part of the group’s accelerated expansion plan via an increase in its hotel portfolio in the East.

NEWS| DLF, Hines to compete for hotel sites

India’s biggest real estate company, DLF Ltd, and US-based real estate firm, Hines Interests Lp., are among developers that may bid to build hotels, offices and shops around New Delhi’s railway station. the city prepares to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The state-owned Indian Railways is seeking bids by 15 January for redeveloping a quarter of its 86ha land in the capital, S.K. Mishra, an executive director at the railways, said.

The site is worth about $2.5 billion (Rs9,900 crore)

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has unveiled its ‘Smart Basics’ Hotel - ‘Ginger’ at Old Venus Theatre, Karuvadikuppam in Puducherry

in the presence of N Rangasamy, Chief Minister of Puducherry, Prabhat Pani, Chief Executive Officer, Roots Corporation Limited and other dignitaries. The 98-room hotel in Puducherry is the 10th hotel that Ginger has added to its growing chain across India.

Currently the Ginger Hotel chain includes Bangalore, Haridwar, Bhubaneswar, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Durgapur, Nasik, Agartala and Pune. Ginger Puducherry is the fourth hotel to be opened in South India after Bangalore, Mysore and Thiruvananthapuram.
