“Feedback from consumers told us that while pasta was still looked upon as more special than pizzas, it had gained popularity over the years, but there was still no one delivering it home,” says Dev Amritesh, senior vice-president (marketing), Domino’s, explaining how for a chain focussed on delivering pizzas, serving pastas is not a large digression. “Pastas are what pizzas were ten years ago — suited to celebrate special occasions,” says Amritesh.

Delhi-based J S Hospitality is in the process of increasing its restaurant portfolio in India. The company manages two restaurant brands namely Pind Balluchi and Park Balluchi in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR).

It presently operates 10 outlets under the Pind Balluchi brand and three restaurants under the fine dine concept Park Balluchi.

RESEARCH| A good night's sleep better than great sex: Study

n a global sleep study of more than 12,500 frequent travellers, conducted by Westin Hotels, 52 per cent Asian respondents felt that a great night's sleep trumped great sex, reports the New Straits Times Online.

The survey also found that 53 per cent would rather have a sleeping pill on their hotel pillow than the ubiquitous chocolate, while 56 per cent took a relaxant, sleep or stress medication when travelling overnight.

One in every two respondents felt a good night's sleep was very important with 58 per cent believing that today's technology and constant connectivity impairs sleep.

NEWS| Sankalp to set up branches in US

Sankalp chain of south-Indian cuisine restaurants will soon be opening its branches in the US, its chairman and managing director Kailash Goenka said here today.






"We have been in the restaurant business for last three decades and have presence in over 60 location across India," Goenka told PTI.

"Our target for the next year is to open 100 more restaurants in the country. We also plan to go international," he said.

NEWS| Radisson Hotels report significant data breach

Radisson Hotels revealed Wednesday that a "limited" number of guests may have had their credit or debit card data stolen, due to a breach of the computer systems at some of the chain's hotels.

In an open letter to guests, Radisson chief operating officer Fredrik Korallus said the hotel chain’s computer system was hacked between November 2008 and May 2009 and customer data, including credit and debit card numbers, was stolen.
