Global GDS revenue rises 34.3 per cent over 2009: The Pegasus View April 2010 -Booking volume increases by 27.4 per cent and ADR by 5.5 per cent

Pegasus Solutions has reported a +34.3 per cent global year-on-year increase in revenue for bookings made in April 2010 through the Global Distribution Systems (GDS), due to a spike in reservations from the Icelandic volcanic eruption. Sourcing data from billions of GDS and Alternative Distribution System (ADS) transactions for nearly 100,000 global hotels, The Pegasus View April 2010 report further evidences a business travel recovery, citing GDS growth in both booking volumes (+27.4 per cent) and Average Daily Rate (ADR) (+5.5 per cent) year-on-year.

East India Hotels reports consolidated total revenue of Rs 1,048 crore for FY 2009-10

The Board of Directors of East India Hotels Limited (EIH), a member of The Oberoi Group, has announced the audited results for the Financial Year 2009-10. The total revenue, including other income, during the Financial Year was Rs 907.27 crores compared to Rs 1,078.47 crores during the previous year.

VINEXPO ASIA-PACIFIC 2010 in Hong Kong saw record participation from exhibitors and visitors

Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2010, the international wine and spirits exhibition, which was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Hong Kong from May 25 to 27, saw three record-breaking days in terms of exhibitors, visitors, and business opportunities.

The event which was held in Hong Kong for the fourth time, was the largest till date occupying over 8,500 sq metres of the HKCEC and welcomed more than 880 exhibitors from 32 countries around the world, including China, Australia, the US, the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, South Korea, New Zealand, Romania, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Chile and Greece. Besides, a number of countries made their first appearance at VINEXPO Asia-Pacific.

It is anticipated that around 12,000 visitors have visited the event. This figure represents an increase of about 40 per cent on VINEXPO Asia-Pacific 2008.

The trade show attracted wine and spirits importers, wholesalers and retailers, duty free and airline buyers and F&B professionals. 58 per cent of visitors were from 25 Asian countries, led by China and followed by Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Singapore. 42 per cent of visitors were from Hong Kong and Macau.

Commenting on these record-breaking figures Robert Beynat, Chief Executive, VINEXPO Asia-Pacific said, "As our survey showed, Asia is now the most dynamic and happening market in the wine and spirits world. The total volume of wine consumption is increasing four times faster than the world average and is expected to continue in the next five years. Furthermore, Asia-Pacific accounts for 50.6 per cent of total world spirits consumption.
