Delhi Gets Its Excise Act together

Delhi Excise Act 2009 formulated last year under the Central government’s Model Excise Act suggestion has come into effect since Monday, with no surprises or innovations except women can now work as bartenders in 5-star hotels and anyone over 21 may serve liquor, but with no change in the legal minimum age requirement of twenty five years for consumption.

Bajaj Hotels mulls franchise expansion

The Bajaj Group of Hotels, branded under Le Sutra Hospitality, is planning to open hotels and restaurants across the nation in the next three to five years. The company is going to invest Rs 300-500 crore for these hotels and restaurants, which will be a mix of both company owned and franchised, confirms a company official.

Hilton Top hotel brand in Asia: Survey

World's leading hotel group Hilton Hotels & Resorts has been named as the top hotel brand in Asia for the year 2010 for the second consecutive year by global research company Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), in conjunction with one of the region's leading media, marketing and advertising publications, Media. This is the second consecutive year Hilton clinched the title since the study's "Travel & Leisure" category was introduced in 2009.

Multiple Positions with Holiday Inn

The Holiday Inn Cochin is a 211 room property located approximately 40 kms south of the Cochin International Airport on the Emakulam mainland. Expected to open in the last quarter of 2010, the hotel has a speciality restaurant, an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar, large meeting space, pool and a health club. Generally known for its strong commercial market, Cochin is also fast becoming a prime tourist and conference destination in India.

Peppermint plans hotels overseas

Peppermint Hospitality India, run by Arjun Baljee of the Baljee family that owns the Royal Orchid chain of hotels, plans to take the budget boutique brand abroad. The brand was earlier planned to be launched abroad first and then in India, but later, the company decided to launch it in the country first.

Worldhotels aims to double its UK portfolio

Worldhotels, the company which describes itself as the 11th-largest global hotel group, would like to nearly double its portfolio in the UK.
