Australia hotel industry recovering well, but challenges await

Hotel occupancy levels in Australia’s major cities are well on the path to full recovery to pre-recession levels, with Sydney the star performer according to a new report from Deloitte.

Australia hotels are on course to average occupancy of 65.6% by the end of this year, up from 62% in 2009 and an estimated 63.9% in 2010. RevPAR is expected to increase by 9.1% on average in 2011 to A$97, up from A$89 a year ago and A$84 in 2009.

ESPA spa for Leela Palace Kempinski New Delhi

ESPA is to launch its newest Indian spa in April, as part of a new Leela Palace Kempinski hotel located in New Delhi's Central Business District.

The 6,500sq ft (604sq m) Spa by ESPA has been designed by Jeffrey Wilkes and features two levels, the first hosting an 'active' spa and the second housing 'passive' facilities.

Hilton Hotels to debut in Sharjah, UAE

Hilton Worldwide has signed a management agreement with Bin Otaiba Investment Group for a Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Sharjah, marking the company's entry into the emirate.

Scheduled to debut as a Hilton in the fourth quarter, the 259-key conversion property is conveniently situated on Corniche Road, 15 km from Sharjah International Airport and 10 km from Dubai International Airport. The hotel is the landmark Corniche Al Buhaira Hotel Sharjah.
