Hilton Worldwide Expands UAE Portfolio With Hilton Sharjah

Hilton Worldwide announced today the signing of a management agreement with the Bin Otaiba Investment Group for a Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Sharjah, marking the company's entry into the emirate.

Scheduled to open in Q4 2011, the 259-room conversion property is conveniently situated on the Corniche Road, just 15 kilometers from the Sharjah International Airport and about 10 kilometers from Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world.

91% of U.S. hoteliers offer free Internet access

According to a survey of 1,000 U.S. hoteliers by TripAdvisor, a staggering 91% say they will offer in-room Internet access as a free amenity in 2011. Only 5% of respondents will charge for the amenity, while the remaining 4% have no plans to offer Internet access.

Hawaii hotels post gains in occupancy, ADR in 2010

The hotel industry in Hawaii has recovered somewhat from a devastatingly poor 2009, but its total room revenue in 2010 remains 18% off the peak year of 2006.

Hawaii hotels pulled in US$2.55 billion last year, according to data from Hospitality Advisors LLC. That is an 8.7% improvement over 2009, but remains well short of the US$3.12 billion taken in during 2006.
