NEWS | China-based HNA Group throw in their bid to buy DLF's Aman Resorts

HNA, the China-based conglomerate, has joined the race to buy Aman Resorts, the biggest non-core asset of realty major DLF, according to analysts and bankers. The 68 billion-RMB group, which is into airlines, hotels, airport management, real estate, retail and tourism, is learnt to have offered above Rs 2,000 crore for the resorts.

NEWS | Liquor prices rise by 75 per cent between March and December 2011

According to a report by Chittaranjan Tembhekar in Times of India, post March 2011, state excise duty on Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) went up by 30-35 per cent. In addition, the year saw a 10 per cent increase in VAT. These taxes led to the liquor prices going up by 70-75 per cent. Hence, while some beer brands currently sell for Rs 65-70 per 650 ml, the cheaper brands of whiskey are still no less that Rs 200 for per quarter.

Intercontinental has launched InterContinental Tangshan, the first international five-star hotel in the city Tangshan in China. According to a report in Travel Pulse, the property has 285 guest rooms including Club Floor, Suites and Accessible Rooms.
