Swissôtel to open its first golf hotel in Sanya, China

Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts has revealed details of its newest hotel, which is to be built at a luxury golf resort in Sanya - the southernmost part of Hainan Island in China. Swissôtel will manage a 300-bedroom hotel at Sanya Dragon Valley Hot Spring and Golf Resort, which includes one of the most exclusive 18-hole golf courses in the region. Hotel facilities will include a Pürovel Spa & Sport-branded wellness spa, four restaurants, a large outdoor swimming pool and more than 2,000sq m (21,500sq ft) of event and conferencing space.

Alila reveals plans for new spa resort in Oman

Alila Hotels and Resorts will expand into Oman in late 2013 with the opening of Alila Jabal Akhdar ? the first luxury resort development in the remote mountainous Jabal Akhdar region. India's hospitality industry has witnessed three deals in the mid-market and budget hotels category in the last one year, signalling the emergence of the segment as the new hotspot for institutional and private equity money. In May, Dutch pension fund manager APG invested Rs 650 crore to pick up 5% stake in mid-market hotels brand Lemon Tree and also set up a joint venture with the same group to build 35 mid-market hotels in the country in four years.

NEWS | Kerala govt excise policy restricts bar licences to four and five-star hotels from 2013-14

The UDF government in Kerala yesterday announced the state's excise policy that proposes a slew of restrictions and revisions in the sale and consumption of liquor products. The policy restricts new bar licences only to four and five-star hotels from 2013-2014 and denies fresh bar license to three-star hotels in the state. The policy proclaims the government's decision to cut down the working hours of bar hotels by three hours. The policy reframed the distance restrictions between bars as three kilometres in panchayats and one kilometre in corporation and municipality areas. However, the restrictions on bar-to-bar distance would not be applicable for five star hotels.
