Accor, Accor Hotels

Accor aims to build more luxury hotels in the future, the company announced at the ongoing five-day ITB Berlin in Germany. “It is time for us to expand into the upscale and luxury end of the market“, said Yann Caillère, COO and President, Accor. Worldwide, the plan is to increase the existing number of 300 Accor hotels with their 65,000 rooms to 400 hotels by 2015. According to Caillère, there is an increasing demand for luxury and upmarket hotels, especially in emerging countries.

NEWS | GMR may sell 5-Star hotel at Hyderabad Airport

Infrastructure builder GMR Group has put its Rs 300-crore five-star hotel at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here up for sale as it realigns its assets, sources said. This will be the third property that GMR has put on sale this year in line with the group's 'Asset Light, Asset Right strategy'. While a GMR spokesperson denied selling the five-star hotel, sources with direct knowledge of the issue said the company has appointed HVS India as its transaction advisor.

Status of hotel projects applications to be available online

In a bid to bring transparency in granting approvals for hotel projects, Tourism Ministry today announced that status of all such applications and those on classification status will be available online from next month. "From April 1, all information relating to such applications indicating the latest status will be put on the website of the Ministry of Tourism-," the ministry said in a statement Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi has announced the initiative to bring in transparency in granting approvals for hotel projects and classification status to functioning hotels, it said.
