A formal ceremony took place recently at the McDonald’s Middle East and Africa Developmental Licensee Summit in Cyprus between Ali K Daud, Development Licensee and President, McDonald’s Oman, and David Hoffman, President, McDonald’s Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa (APMEA), omanobserver.om reported. Connaught Plaza Restaurants Pvt Ltd recently opened McDonald’s largest outlet in India at Noida, spread across 8,000 sq ft, as against an average outlet size of 3,500 sq ft. “Flagship (outlets) like this is not a standard but we could look at opening more such stores depending upon demographics,” Vikram Bakshi, Managing Director and JV Partner, Connaught Plaza Restaurants (McDonald’s India - North and East), was quoted as saying in a PTI report. Further, Connaught Plaza plans to invest up to Rs 500 crore to double the total number of outlets of the American fast food chain to 300 by 2015.

Big Three Restaurants, Inc., (OTCPink: BTHR) announced today it has signed an agreement with VERA Group, LLC, which provides immediate equity or bridge financing of $1.5 million and debt, equity or a combination of both totaling an additional $10 million but not less than $5 million net for operating capital. VERA Group will have first right of refusal on all future capital requirements, expansion and acquisition funding. The agreement is for 12 months and is on a non-exclusive basis with three additional six month increments.
The Habit Burger Grill is opening its fifth Arizona location on Wednesday, July 3 in Phoenix located on Cactus Road and Tatum Blvd. (4575 E. Cactus Road). The Paradise Valley area looks to be a positive growth market for The Habit, with four already successful locations around the Valley. The Irvine-based concept continues to grow with over 60 locations in California as well as two restaurants in Utah. The first Arizona location opened in May 2011 in Tempe.

David Malmberg has been promoted to general manager of the Courtyard and Residence Inn Austin Downtown Convention Center properties. Prior to joining White Lodging in 2011, Malmberg spent nine years in St. Kitts, West Indies. During that time he was the director of restaurant and bar operations, director of catering operations and a sales executive with Marriott. Additionally, Malmberg had success with his own beach bar while on the island. Other Marriott experience includes being the restaurant general manager for the Mansion Restaurant in Lexington, Ky. and assistant restaurant manager for the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Mo.
In a bid to increase revenue, Air India has proposed tying up with an international hotel chain and a bank to boost its frequent-flyer programme. "We will partner with an international hotel chain and launch a co-branded credit card with a bank with a nation-wide presence. These features have been missing from our programme,'' said Air India’s commercial director, Deepak Brara.
