Hyatt Hotel Corporation is planning to introduce all of its seven brands in the country within the next three years, which, combined will add 5,300 hotel rooms. The hotel group said that they will be targeting "high growth" Tier II and Teir III cities in addition to Tier-I cities. The group said that new locations will be chosen keeping business travelers in mind. "India is one of the primary focus markets for Hyatt globally, along with the US and China.

Los Angeles-based burger chain The Counter, which is featured in GQ magazine's '20 Hamburgers You Must Eat Before You Die', is entering India. With over 3,000 different combinations, a burger at Counter will cost a minimum Rs 400. That's eight times more than the rates at the most famous global burger chain, McDonald's, which operates assembly line-like stores in 13 Indian cities. "In India, we either have lower-priced burgers or the ones available at the coffee shops of 5-star hotels. There is a huge gap and potential between these segments, which we hope to fill through The Counter with a fine-dining positioning," said Gaurav Marya, chairman of Franchise India, which is partnering
Ryan Frederick has been promoted to dual general manager of the Courtyard and Residence Inn Houston Downtown/Convention Center. Previously, he was the general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco Airport. Frederick began his career with White Lodging in 2006 as a Marriott restaurant manager in Michigan and has held multiple positions across the country during his time with White lodging. Prior to serving as general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco, Frederick served as general manager in several locations, including Tampa, Fla. and Saratoga Springs, N. Y.
Joe Garcia has been promoted to general manager at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Antonio Downtown/Market Square. Previously, Garcia was the operations manager and assistant general manager at the Residence Inn Houston/Sugarland. As operations manager and assistant general manager at Residence Inn Houston/Sugarland, Garcia operated the hotel during a full renovation and provided leadership for sixteen associates. Prior to joining White Lodging, Garcia managed front desk services as a guest service representative for the London West Hollywood in Hollywood, Calif.
Prashant Sharma has been appointed resort manager for Mövenpick Beach Resort Alkhobar. He brings with him over 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, his experience includes serving in various positions in different countries. Sharma has worked in the capacity of assistant director sales and marketing at Le Meridien Alkhobar for nearly eight years.
CapitaLand's wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited, is introducing the Citadines brand to the Gulf region. Starting in Jeddah, the 166-unit Citadines Tahlia Jeddah and the 136-unit Citadines Al Salamah Jeddah are expected to open within the first quarter of 2014. The management contracts are awarded by the Abdul Samad Al Qurashi Group, one of the leading conglomerates in Saudi Arabia with operations throughout the Gulf region and in Europe.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) recently announced the latest addition to the growing global Holiday Inn Resort brand portfolio with the opening of the Holiday Inn Resort Grand Cayman hotel. The property has 117 rooms and a variety of beachfront amenities. The property, owned by The Grand Caymanian Ltd., and managed by Crestline Hotels and Resorts is franchised by an affiliate of IHG.
Best Western International, continues its global expansion with the addition of the company’s fifth hotel in Russia, the 133-room Best Western Art Hotel Nikolaevsky Posad, in the Golden Ring of Russia, Suzdal. “The addition of the Best Western Art Hotel Nikolaevsky Posad underscores the strength of the Best Western brand, as it is the first internationally branded property in Suzdal. Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will open the 211-room Shangri-La Hotel, Qufu in the centre of Qufu, August 1, 2013. It will be the city’s first international luxury accommodation. Shangri-La Hotel, Qufu is within walking distance of the Temple of Confucius, the Mansion of Confucius and the Cemetery of Confucius.
