Vishvapreet Singh Cheema has joined Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi as its General Manager. Cheema has earlier been associated with Ista Bangalore (now Hyatt Bangalore MG Road) for a period of six years. Mumbai-based DB Realty, which owns 49 % stake in its hospitality arm DB Hospitality Group, has decided to not take up any new hospitality projects and shelve earlier plans. Properties that have already been developed and are running will be retained by the company, while those in the pipeline will either undergo change of use or get divested. Vipul Bansal, chief executive officer, DB Realty, said, “Hospitality is not the focus area and there is no plan really to expand the hospitality asset portfolio anymore. Projects where work has not started will either get converted into residential developments or we will get rid of them.
Swiss hospitality major Movenpick Hotels and Resorts is in advanced talks to set up resort hotels in Udaipur and Jaipur. “When finalised in a couple of months, these hotels (Udaipur and Jaipur) will be open for business in less than three years,” Biswajit Chakraborty, General Manager, Movenpick Bangalore, said. “In India, company has a deliberate policy to manage hotels (not less than 30 years old) and not own the properties we operate,” he added.Movenpick plans to open its first resort hotel in the country at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh later this year.
Increase in FAR at Delhi hotels proposal approved by Master Plan 2021 committee. The proposal for allowing hotels in Delhi to increase their floor area ratio (FAR) adding more storeys has received the nod from the Master Plan 2021 committee. One of the committees of experts, management action group on enforcement and planning, which is reviewing the Master Plan of Delhi 2021, has approved an increase in the FAR of hotels from present 225 to 400. The proposal would now be moved to an advisory committee headed by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, who is also the chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Fleur Hotels, a joint venture between Lemon Tree Hotels and Dutch pension fund manager APG, today said it has acquired 130-room Clarion Hotel in Bengaluru from Asian Hotels (West) LtdBSE -9.39 % for Rs 64 crore in an all cash deal.
