The management of the loss-making Centaur Hotels situated in Delhi and Srinagar and run by the Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) – a public company in turn wholly owned by Air India, could soon be privatised if the aviation ministry has its way.Aviation minister Ajit Singh confirmed that his ministry was considering privatising the management of the two hotels. Officials also said that the Jammu and Kashmir government’s consent will have to be taken as the Srinagar property is currently under their lease.
Hoteliers can now build properties in convention centre premises. A committee of experts reviewing the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) 2021 has approved the setting up of hotels and related activities in convention centres. According to the present MPD norms, international convention centres are classified as public and semi-public facilities, where hotels are not permitted. However, the committee took the view that there is a need for permitting hotels in order to reduce the movement (travelling) between the conference venue and places where the guests stay.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Istra-Kurort LLC, a Russian real estate development company, for a Hyatt Regency hotel in Moscow. Expected to open in 2017, Hyatt Regency Moscow Istra Resort will join the luxurious Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow already open in the city. Accor celebrated today the opening of the Novotel Moscow City, its 5th hotel in Moscow and its 16th in Russia.
