Accor recently opened Novotel Moscow City, its fifth in Moscow and 16th in Russia. The hotel, which is the first and only hotel in Moscow’s international business centre Moscow City, is a co-project with Tashir, a Russian real estate developer and holding company, and with the diversified investor CJSC Soglasie.
The total investment by the two partners amounted to USD 160 million. Accor operates the hotel under a long-term management contract, as per a release. Novotel Moscow City offers 360 rooms, featuring ergonomic writing desks and free Wi-Fi, as well as a doc-station and a Philips connectivity panel for PCs and iPods.
Australian hotel brand, Mantra, has opened of its first hotel in Asia – Mantra Nusa Dua Bali – but back on home soil the network continues to expand. Mantra’s regional network is set to grow with new properties in Wagga Wagga, Broome, and Townsville while investments in new developments at existing hotels in Geraldton and on the Sunshine Coast are also under way. Mantra Group CEO, Bob East, said the new additions would complement the diverse network of 50 Mantra properties across Australia. Mantra expects to have over 60 properties in the network in the next 12 months across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Sundy House, an award-winning restaurant and boutique hotel located in Delray Beach, Florida, has named Marco Schlenz as the new General Manager. Schlenz most recently served as Director of Club Operations at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Schlenz has served as the General Manager for both the President Country Club in West Palm Beach and the Dye Preserve Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida.
For many years, Schlenz was Corporate Chef/Partner in Gastronomy, Inc. , a six-restaurant concept that became the largest independent chain in Utah. With a Swiss apprenticeship from the Hotel Adler in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, Schlenz holds a dual Swiss-USA citizenship. He is fluent in Spanish and Swiss-German and resides in West Palm Beach with his wife and two sons. Schlenz has a degree from the Culinary Institute of America and is a member of the Club Manager's Association.
Balabon joins Rosewood with more than 24 years of experience in luxury hotel sales. Most recently, Balabon spent three years as vice president of sales of Andre Balazs Properties. Previously, she served as the executive director of marketing for The New York Palace Hotel. In this role, Balabon was responsible for overseeing and implementing the hotel’s affiliation with The Dorchester Collection. Prior to her time with The New York Palace Hotel, Balabon spent two years as vice president of sales and marketing of The Trump Collection, spearheading the company’s brand development.
Most recently, Nassy was General Manager of Hyatt Regency Rochester, a position he held since 2007. Prior to the Rochester post, Saidian was Executive Assistant Manager at Hyatt Regency Dallas, Hyatt Regency Crown Center Kansas City, Hyatt Regency Cambridge Massachusetts and Hyatt Regency Coral Cables Florida. Nassy's long history at Hyatt includes earlier roles at Hyatt Regency Chicago, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Park Hyatt Chicago, Hyatt Regency Aruba, Hyatt Boston Harbor and Hyatt Grand Champions Resort and Spa at Indian Wells California.
In his new role as Hotel Manager, Jean-Francois will be responsible for all hotel operations, including staff management, recruitment and development, weekly payroll review, training, scheduling, and preparation of annual budgets, amongst other daily operational tasks. With over 15 years of management experience, Jean-Francois will guide Gansevoort's current initiatives while working to implement hotel-wide strategies that will catapult the hotel for years to come.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has signed an agreement with Suzhou Science and Technology Town Kexin Cultural Tourism Development Co Ltd in China to launch an Element Hotel in Suzhou Science and Technology Town (SSTT). SSTT is an eco-city in Suzhou National Industrial Development Zone (SND), on the west of Suzhou and adjacent to Tai Lake. Slated for completion in mid-2015, the property, Element Suzhou Science and Technology Town (Element Suzhou), marks the Starwood brand’s entry into Asia Pacific, as well as the presence of all of Starwood’s nine differentiated lifestyle brands in the region.
