Amid ongoing expansion in the region, Kempinski Hotels has announced the appointment Bugra Berberoglu to the role of senior vice president, regional operations, India, Middle East & Africa. Berberoglu was promoted from his position as the general manager of the landmark Abu Dhabi hotel, Emirates Palace, which is managed by Kempinski. Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel brand, currently operates sixteen hotels in the Middle East, Africa, & India with plans to double its regional portfolio by 2015. Performance in the region continues to increase year on year and Beberoglu will assume responsibility for the overall operations of the region to ensure that Kempinski continues to maintain a premium on its growing portfolio of landmark properties.
Nitesh Estates limited obtained clearances to start operations at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore. Shares of the company rose by 6.83% after the clearance news. The development has received all necessary approvals/licences such as Occupancy certificate, tourism Board NOC, food & Restaurant permits, trade License, pollution clearance, and Fire Clearance for its commencement. The hotel is scheduled to start full scale operations by September 30, 2013. The 5-star property will have 277 rooms that includes guest rooms & suites, international dining options offering five upscale F&B outlets, Hair Salon and the Ritz-Carlton Spa. The property will have a ballroom capacity of 1,000 people.
3H Kitchen, a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chain, plans to expand in Delhi and other northern regions with Franchise India, a franchise and retail solution provider in Asia. It aims to gain franchise and retail solutions for further penetration and expansion in new locations across the Indian market. 3H presently has five outlets in Delhi and plans to open eight to ten more within a year in Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh,
Tune Hotels recently unveiled its first hotel in the southern island of Mindanao at Cagayan de Oro City (CDO), Philippines. The 159-room property is Tune Hotels’ fifth in the country, after a property each in Angeles City and Cebu City, and Ermita and Makati in Manila, as per a release. Mark Lankester, Group CEO, Tune Hotels, said, “Tune Hotels is really proud to be in CDO. We owe a big thankyou to the booming Philippine economy and its very healthy tourist arrivals. Hotel management firm Sarovar Hotels has announced the signing of a new hotel in Kenya, its third in Africa. The Premiere that is located in the airport complex of Embakasi at Nairobi will offer 144-rooms, dining and conferencing venues for business travellers. "The Premiere will be our third hotel in Africa and second in Nairobi, which is an established hub for business and culture. India is increasingly showing interest in Africa as a market and we too are of the belief that Africa has a huge potential in the hospitality segment," says Anil Madhok, managing director of Sarovar Hotels and Resorts. Nairobi, being the capital and the largest city of Kenya, is home to thousands of Kenyan businesses and major international companies.
Hyatt Regency Century Plaza has named Brian Morris, Director of Sales & Marketing. Morris is responsible for the hotel's overall sales operation and marketing communications. He manages a staff of 13 and serves as a member of the hotel's Executive Managing Committee. A 23-year veteran of the hotel industry, Morris began his career in 1989 as Room Service Attendant at Hyatt Grand Champions Resort (Palm Desert, CA) where he spent ten years working various operations positions. He was appointed Sales Manager in 1997. From 1999- 2008, Morris was promoted throughout Hyatt hotels in North America, crisscrossing the country in various sales positions.
Philip began his career with Marriott in Athens Ledra Marriott Hotel back in 1985 as a Maitre D' and then was promoted to Restaurant Manager. He did the pre-opening task force at the Warsaw Marriott Hotel for its specialty restaurants and lounges in 1989. In 1991 Philip moved as Beverage Manager to Warsaw Marriott Hotel. He got promoted to Director of Restaurants in 1993 then to Director of Catering in 1995. In 1993 Philip did the pre-opening task force for the Budapest Marriott Hotel for all its restaurants and lounges. In August 1996, Philip was promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing at the Athens Ledra Marriott Hotel. In October 1998 he returned back to Warsaw Marriott Hotel as a Director of Sales & Marketing. He was promoted to Resident Manager in 2000, then to Acting Director of Operations in September 2001.

Best Western International (BWI) has continued its rapid expansion in Indonesia with the signing of a new hotel in the bustling business hub of Tangerang, West Java. Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2013, the seven-story BEST WESTERN Serpong has 196 modern rooms, including 12 suites. Built in 2012, the contemporary guest rooms will have flat-screen LCD TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, minibars and private balconies. The hotel will also have a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and a full service restaurant and lounge.
