Monarch Group raises hospitality portfolio with Sh1bn investment.

The Monarch Group – whose investments span insurance, real estate and hospitality – is ramping up its portfolio with luxury facilities, which will see it spend up to $12 million (Sh1 billion) by August 2014. It has set up Jambo Chester Hotels & Resorts, under which eight hospitality facilities spread across the country and Tanzania will be operated.

ONYX Hospitality Group goes full steam on new developments

The Onyx Hospitality Group has a line up of new openings scheduled in the coming months. The first quarter of 2014 will witness the opening two Ozo properties – Koh Samui and Colombo. The group is also looking at expanding the Ozo brand in Pattaya by quarter three of 2014. In the later part of the second quarter, the group will foray into Bangladesh with the Amari Dhaka, followed by a second Sri Lankan Ozo property in Kandy. There are also some Shamas lined-up – one scheduled to open Dec 2013 – Jan 1014 in Hangzhou (Shama Heda).

Taj Group to re-launch St James’s Court London

Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces will re-launch St James' Court, a hotel in London under Taj groups’ portfolio, in January 2014. The hotel will be renamed Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, Suites and Residences, following a phased renovation plan and introduction of enhanced luxury standards stated a report in The financial Express.
