RLJ Lodging Trust Announces Closing of $313 Million, 10-Hotel Portfolio Acquisition from Affiliates of Hyatt Hotels Corporation

BETHESDA, Md.--()--RLJ Lodging Trust (NYSE: RLJ) (“RLJ”) and Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) (“Hyatt”) today announced that their affiliates have closed on the previously announced purchase and sale of 10 Hyatt, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels, totaling 1,560 rooms. Hyatt affiliates will manage the hotels under new management agreements.
The portfolio, which is comprised of the hotels listed below and located primarily on the West Coast, was acquired for a total purchase price of approximately $313 million. RLJ intends to spend approximately $25 million in capital expenditures across the portfolio, the majority of which will be invested over the next 24 months.

Meliá Hotels International Announce ME Milan Il Duca

Leading hotel company Meliá Hotels International, today announce a new milestone for its cutting edge, lifestyle brand ME by Meliá as the name continues to grow globally. ME by Meliá, specialising in modern and high energy hotels at the heart of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, will open its Milan doors near to the famous “fashion quadrilateral", at the Piazza della Repubblica. The hotel will be close to the Corso Como, one of the chicest areas of the city.

 The new ME Milan, which will be housed in a building by renowned architect Aldo Rossi, will be completely renovated to the style of the late architect. It will have 132 rooms, including 34 suites - amongst which will be the signature penthouse "Suite ME" - Lounge-Bar and Restaurant, and ultra-modern conference rooms.

 The rooftop bar, another hallmark of ME hotels will be an impressive 600 square metres in size and will boast panoramic views over the city, showing off sights including the Garibaldi towers.

InterContinental opens first hotel in Nha Trang

InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the doors of the brand new InterContinental Nha Trang in the coastal city of Nha Trang, Vietnam. The 279-room hotel overlooks the coastline and waters of the Nha Trang Bay and includes 56 luxuriously furnished suites.
The hotel has a number of dining options. The hotel's main restaurantCookbook Café offers live interactive cooking stations with seafood, chargrilled meats and authentic Vietnamese specialties, while poolside bar Aqualineprovides guests with views over the bay as they enjoy light bites. Those looking to unwind can enjoy signature drinks prepared by the hotel's resident mixologist at the Lobby Bar.
InterContinental Nha Trang is a haven for rejuvenation with three outdoor swimming pools and a fully equipped Fitness Centre, while Spa InterContinental offers guests the latest holistic modern and traditional treatments, equipped with a luxurious couple suite, sauna and jacuzzi, among others. IHG, Carlson make senior personnel moves

Bob Morse will step down as COO of the Americas for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) effective April 4. Lew Fader, currently senior vice president of operations for the Americas East Region and Canada, will oversee hotel operations in the interim.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group on Monday announced that Thorsten Kirschke will assume the role of president of the group’s Asia Pacific region effective immediately. For the past four years, Kirschke has led Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group as President of the Americas. Kirschke will replace Simon Barlow, who resigned from his position to pursue other opportunities. He will report to David Berg, chief operating officer, Carlson.

In the Americas, Javier Rosenberg will continue to lead Radisson and Radisson Blu as COO, Radisson, Americas and executive vice president, owned and managed hotels. Scott Meyer will continue to lead Country Inns & Suites By Carlson and Park Inn by Radisson as senior vice president, midscale hotel brands, Americas. Phil Silberstein, executive vice president, will lead development in the Americas. Rosenberg, Meyer and Silberstein will now report to Berg.
