Editor: Tell us about your journey. how did it all start?
Hailing from a family of Doctors and Engineers, my initial career choice was to get into the medical field. Somewhere down the line I realized I wanted to do something different and not necessarily follow the main stream. I was exploring numerous options including the military at this point of time. I basically knew that I loved to travel, see and experience new cultures and face a new challenges everyday. Thankfully my parents were very supportive and gave me my space and time to decide what I wanted .That is when I came across Hotel Management as a career option. Like any naïve student I was initially attracted to the glitz and glamour the industry portrayed but thankfully found my footing very soon and have been enjoying the journey ever since. On completing my Bachelor in Hotel Management Degree from Mangalore University I joined the Taj Group as a Hotel Operations Trainee in F&B service. Worked for couple of years with the Taj in Kerala during which I realized I had a flair for sales and marketing. Being an operations person I wasn’t getting the break I was looking for in S&M, hence decided to resign and pursue a full time 2 year MBA.
