How the Indian Hotels Company Ltd is counting on a new strategy to put its house in order

Each property head will now report to area general managers or area directors, who will then report to region-heads who in turn will report to Sarna himself. The details are being worked out, but those close to the blueprint shed more light on how the strategy will pan out. Prabhat Verma, who was chief operating officer of Gateway Hotels, another Taj subbrand, will now be in charge of the southern region. He will also head London operations, as Verma was based there once.


Rohit Khosla, head of Taj Colombo, will now head north and east and Farhat Jamal, when he comes in, is expected to take over the western region. Under these regional heads there are area directors. Karambir Kang will continue to head the United States as area director and Sarabjeet Singh, head of Taj Krishna, will now head the area "Sri Lanka and Maldives". Sarabjeet's brother Taljinder Singh will head the Mumbai area and Gaurav Pokhariyal will be moved to Delhi to head that area. Saleem Yousuff and Mohan Chandra will head the Chennai and Hyderabad areas, respectively.
