Hyatt to open 10 hotels in next 5 years in India

American hospitality major Hyatt Hotels is aggressively planning to expand its footprint in India, Asia’s third biggest economy, by opening 10 hotels over the next four-five years.


The new properties would be under its Hyatt Place brand, an upscale service hotel category. The American company has a total of seven brands: Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Andaz and Hyatt House.

 “We want to aggressively tap the growing demand for our brand by opening more properties across India over the next five years,” Swarendra Sahay, general manager at Hyatt Place told Financial Chronicle. He said the company had opened its first 115-room property in September 2012 in Hampi in Karnataka, followed by 168-room property in Gurgaon in November 2014.
