Police raid hotel Le Meridien in Kochi, arrest Russian DJ for drug possession

Thiruvananthapuram--Renowned Russian dark-psytrance producer and Moscow DJ Psykovsky alias Vasily Markelov, was arrested from Le Méridien hotel in Kochi during a police crackdown on drug mafia.

During the raid held at the five star hotel, police seized 3.5 gram ketamine from the participants at the DJ party. Psykovsky and five others were booked under non-bailable offence for possessing the drug. Police said they had tip off about use of illegal drugs under the guise of DJ parties. Three policemen went to the party at the Le Méridien Hotel as customers and verified use of drug at the DJ party. Participants were charged Rs 1000. Of this, Rs 200 each was meant for the organisers and the hotel. The rest of the money went to the DJ group.

 Kochi deputy police commissioner Hari Sanker said the police were looking into the involvement of the hotel in the drug party. The Kochi property of Le Méridien, a prominent hotel brand in India, is owned by NRI businessman Gulfar Muhammedali. Indian Express
