Taj Vivanta's former COO Veer Vijay Singh launches hotel management company

Veer Vijay Singh, a former chief operating officer of Taj Group's Vivanta branded properties has founded a hotel management company, Trance Hotels and Resorts, enlisting support of nine former senior Taj executives who will work as consultants for the startup.

Launched this month, Hyderabad-based Trance Hotels and Resorts is already in talks with 20 hotel owners to manage their properties, said Singh The company will offer hotel management and consultation services in various fields of hospitality. It will handle the management of mid-market (3-star) to upscale (4-star) hotels in India and overseas under its brands Trance Urbane, Trance Heritage, Trance Resort and V by Trance. "Eighty per cent of the people working with us are from the Taj (Group) and these are people who have retired and have great experience in their field," said Singh. Between the ten of them, the former senior Taj executives have had 300 years of combined experience at India's leading hotel chain, he said.

 Deepa Misra Harris (former senior vice president, global sales and marketing), Rohinton Commissariat (former director, sales and marketing) and Shirin R Batliwala (former vice president of food and beverages) are among the old Taj Group hands who will act as consultants to Singh's venture in areas such as marketing, project management, engineering, food and beverages, and architecture. After spending over three decades in the Taj Group, all of them have started their own business ventures. Trance Hotels and Resorts will be helmed by Singh and his son Suryaveer. "For me the second innings has just begun and I am still inspired to contribute and innovate in the industry," said Singh. A graduate of Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland, Suryaveer has five years of experience in the hotel industry across brands such as Four Seasons and Taj.
