Accor, InterGlobe unveil ‘ibis’ hotel in Hyderabad

Accor Hotels and InterGlobe Hotels on Wednesday announced an investment of Rs.900 crore in their economy brand of hotels ‘ibis’.

They had invested about Rs. 1,300 crore on the project so far. Announcing the launch of the ‘ibis’ Hyderabad HITEC City hotel with 178 rooms here on Tuesday, InterGlobe’s President J.B. Singh said that this took the count of Accor and InterGlobe properties in the City of Pearls to five, including the Novotel and the Mercure. He said that 40 per cent of the joint venture’s properties were in South India. “Very soon, three or four more properties including those in Coimbatore, Kochi and Goa will be unveiled,” he stated.

“Soon, we wish to take the current count of 8,000-odd rooms we manage/own in India to the 10,000-mark,” said AccorHotels India Vice-President Arif Patel. “Hyderabad is a booming market, with a growth of 70 per cent over the past 10 years, including 20 per cent month-on-month in the last 23 months,” he said. “We already have our properties, in Visakhapatnam and in Bhimli and very soon, one more will come up in Vijayawada,” he said. Giving an overview of the ‘ibis’ property General Manager Rubin Cherian said that all their rooms - single and twin occupancy, with queen-sized or twin beds, come with a 17-square metre area, in tune with Accor’s global standards.
