Marriott expects faster growth with mid segment brands

Marriott International, which has emerged as the largest hotel company post its acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, expects faster growth from mid-market and four star brands including Aloft, Fairfield, Courtyard and Four Points by Sheraton compared to its luxury portfolio in the country.

Marriott Topples Taj Group To Become Top Hotel Operator In India

The US-based hotel chain Marriott International has become the largest hospitality operator in the country with 18,000 rooms which translates into more than 11 per cent in the domestic market, following its acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts globally. With this acquisition, the Taj Group, with over 14,000 rooms, has slipped to second slot. Prior to the merger, Marriott was the fourth largest hotel brand in the country while Starwood was the fifth.

Marriott, Starwood combined entity to open 80 hotels in India in 3 years

Marriott International Inc, which on Friday completed acquisition of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, said the combined entity in India would open around 80 hotels in the next three years, taking the total number of hotels it operates to around 160 in the country.
