Delhi: Teen Couple Found Hanging in Dwarka Hotel

They had checked in to the OYO room, in the hotel located in Dwarka's Sector 17, at around 1:30 PM on Friday and had remained in the room since check-in.


A 17-year-old and 18-year-old girl were found hanging on Friday evening from a ceiling fan in a hotel room in Dwarka, that they had booked through an OYO app. The police found no sign of forced entry into the room and the room had been locked from inside. The boy was a schoolboy and the girl was pursuing MBBS degree at a medical college. They had checked in to the OYO room, in the hotel located in Dwarka’s Sector 17, at around 1:30 PM on Friday and had remained in the room since check-in. The police received a phone call at around 5:30 Pm on Friday. “Finding something amiss, the staff rang the bell multiple times but got no response. He even banged on the door several times, after which the manager was alerted. The staff then called the police and broke open the door and found them hanging,” DCP (southwest) Surender Kumar said.

The couple was found hanging from a rope they are believed to have brought with themselves. Police also suspects that they had planned the suicide before they checked into the hotel room. The police used the girl’s ID card to that they found in the room to track down her parents. As per the further investigations, the boy had left home on Thursday saying that he was going for tuitions and had met the girl at a metro station near sector 17. The boy was studying in Class 12 at a private school in Delhi. The girl was a resident of Rohini and was a first-year MBBS student at a medical college in Delhi.
