Energy Kitchen is a tasty alternative, too, according a review in The New York Times. "At Energy Kitchen in Hoboken, no dish contains more than 500 calories and every item is grilled, steamed or baked. But flavor is not sacrificed in the burgers, wraps and muffins," a reviewer wrote in May.

Growth Strategy

Leone wants to use his real estate, operations and marketing expertise to help franchisees expand outside the five boroughs. Financial Results | HYATT REPORTS FOURTH QUARTER 2009 RESULTS

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (“Hyatt” or the “Company”) (NYSE:
H) reported financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2009 as follows:

FOURTH QUARTER 2009
Adjusted EBITDA was $104 million compared to $97 million in the fourth quarter of 2008, an increase of 7.2% (4.3% excluding the effect of currency). The increase was largely driven by lower selling, general and administrative expenses compared to the fourth quarter of 2008.

Net loss attributable to Hyatt was $12 million, or $0.07 per share, compared to a net loss attributable to Hyatt of $142 million, or $1.11 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2008. Net loss attributable to Hyatt included an unfavorable impact from special items of $13 million after-tax, or $0.07 per share, during the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to an unfavorable impact of $129 million after-tax, or $1.00 per share, during the fourth quarter of 2008.

Comparable owned and leased hotels RevPAR decreased 6.7% (8.3% excluding the effect
of currency) compared to the fourth quarter of 2008.

Owned and leased hotel operating margins declined 330 basis points compared to the
fourth quarter of 2008. Comparable owned and leased hotel operating margins declined 220 basis points compared to the same period in 2008. See the table on page 9 of the
accompanying schedules for a reconciliation of comparable owned and leased hotel
operating margins to owned and leased hotel operating margins.

Comparable North American full-service RevPAR decreased 11.1% compared to the fourth
quarter of 2008. Comparable North American select-service RevPAR decreased 11.9%
compared to the fourth quarter of 2008.

Comparable International RevPAR increased 0.4% (decreased 5.5% excluding the effect of currency) compared to the fourth quarter of 2008.

Golden Sands Resort in Penang, Malaysia completes redevelopment programme

The Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La in Malaysia has completed a USD 14 million year-long redevelopment programme. The property has 387 guestrooms. Besides, there are family combo units of two interconnecting rooms that can accommodate up to six persons, 14 suites and 208 deluxe sea-view rooms.

According to a report in asiatraveltips.com, a majority of the rooms have Murphy Beds (pull-down, retractable wall beds) that can accommodate a third person in the room and up-to-date facilities such as LCD TV, DVD player, satellite TV channels, USB/iPod/modem ports in a user-friendly audio-visual panel and free broadband Internet access.

Club Méditerranée to launch Sun Mountain Yabuli resort in China

Club Méditerranée will launch first Club Med mountain resort - Melco China Resorts Sun Mountain Yabuli resort in November 2010. Club Med signed an agreement with Melco China Resorts Ltd (MCR) in February this year. Under the agreement, the upmarket Sun Mountain Yabuli resort will be home to the Club Med mountain resort and will be aligned with the brand's standards by November 2010.

According to a report in etravelblackboard, Club Med will cover the cost of aligning the resort for a maximum investment of USD 3 million and will operate and market the resort through a ten-year renewable management contract. MCR will manage all ski-related activities at Yabuli, which is currently the country's largest ski resort. Club Med said it planned to strengthen its presence in upscale resorts with plans to open five resorts between 2010 and 2014.

Accor Sells 5 Europe Hotels For €154m

As part of the ongoing deployment of its "asset right" strategy, Accor has announced an international real estate transaction involving the sale of five hotels (representing more than 1,100 rooms) in four European countries for €154 million.

The transaction has been carried out with Invesco Real Estate, a major real estate manager in the United States, Europe and Asia, with assets under management of more than €18 billion, of which €650 million in European and US hotel properties.

The transaction involves five hotels:

Singapore tourism drops 4.3 per cent, hotels take hit

Tourist arrivals in Singapore fell 4.3 per cent in 2009 to 9.7 million, the city-state's tourism board said Tuesday. Hotels were hit hard as visitors stayed away due to the economic recession and the H1N1 flu outbreak.

A strong rebound in the last quarter allowed for a "very credible" performance over the whole year, tourism board chief executive Aw Kah Peng said. Visitor arrivals for the month of December reached a record 971,000.

However, tourism receipts over the year were estimated at 12.4 billion Singapore dollars (8.7 billion US dollars), down 19 per cent from a year earlier, the board said.

Hotels were hit hard as the average room rate fell 22.3 per cent to 191 Singapore dollars. Average revenue per hotel room - including rooms that remained vacant - was down 26.6 per cent to 146 Singapore dollars in 2009.

According to a report in asiatraveltips.com, Dubai─based Jumeirah Group has signed an agreement with Xanadu Holdings to manage Jumeirah Meradhoo, a new five─star deluxe resort in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, south of the Malé Atoll in the Maldives.

This is the second phase of the group's expansion strategy. in an area which is recognised as the world's top luxury resort destination.

The 36─villa resort is on an uninhabited island of 45,000 sq metres, with 16 of the villas forming a unique 'water village.' Each of the 'water village' villas will be 240 sq metres, while the 20 luxury beach villas on the main island will be approximately 300 sq metres in size. Jumeirah Meradhoo will also feature a dive centre, three restaurants, a bar and a Talise spa.

The Hilton Hotels brand in the UK is launching a new lobby lounge design concept intended to make the public space more conducive to business while simultaneously improving it as a social gathering place.

Editor | In the trade it is accepted and appreciated that the hotel public spaces are used for business meetings and tete-a-tete.

some hotels ensure interviews are not conducted in these spaces and most companies would rent the business center for conferences and closed door meetings, but the odd chat, sharing of ideas or pure networking has always happened.

The Space looks to replicate an airport executive lounge, merging restaurant, bar and lounge into a single cohesive space that is open and informal. Furnishings will be positioned in such a way that guests-whether sitting alone or in small groups-will feel part of a larger social space while having the limited privacy needed to get work done, says Dino Michael, director of food and beverage for Hilton Worldwide in the United Kingdom and Ireland. "Personal space is very important," he says. "With this setup, people can have privacy in an open area."

The Space will include technological perks like copious electrical outlets, WiFi, mobile charging stations and Bluetooth connectivity. Bar-style seating is available for notebook computer users to work and share in a more ergonomic-friendly fashion, and tabletops will be large enough to comfortably accommodate computers, drinks and food.

Guests will be permitted to reserve portions of The Space for small meetings.
